We have had some great events and activities across the Department to recognize Women’s History Month. I am proud to announce that RMA is hosting a virtual event at the end of the month, which USDA leaders are promoting Department wide.

I hope you will be able to join us on Wednesday, March 31, at 1:00 pm EDT, for “Women Leaders in Crop Insurance.” It will be a one-hour presentation and discussion panel.

We will welcome three special guests who have had successful careers in agriculture and crop insurance. They will discuss challenges they overcame and changes they have seen during their careers.

Kendall Jones

Kendall Jones, CEO of Producers Ag Insurance Group, is one of three special guests for RMA’s ‘Women Leaders in Crop Insurance’ panel. The live virtual event takes place on March 31, 1:00 pm EDT

Kendall Jones is President and Chief Executive Officer of Producers Ag Insurance Group—one of 14 Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs) that service Federal crop insurance policies. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors for Producers Ag Insurance Group, as well as the Board of Directors at National Crop Insurance Services.

Iris Sáenz served on the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) Board of Directors from 2013 – 2020 as the insurance industry appointee. She has sold and serviced crop insurance policies for more than 35 years. She is also owner of MonteDuro Land and Cattle Company, a Beefmaster cow-calf and land management company.

Pat Swanson currently serves on the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) Board of Directors as one of three farming industry appointees. She co-owns and operates Son Risk Management crop insurance agency and has served as an insurance agent since 2005. She also serves on USDA’s Farm Service Agency Iowa State committee.

I can’t wait for this exciting panel. Of note, after the presentations, each will offer professional advice to those just starting their careers or those looking to advance to the next level.

We expect a good showing as we are promoting the event across USDA and externally. I encourage you to join the live event. The link to join is below. Please feel free to share it. If you have a question you would like to ask the panel, please send it in advance to Sean Patrick with the Risk Management Education Division at sean.patrick@usda.gov.

Have a great weekend!
