Camelina Crop Provisions Changes Effective for the 2022 and Succeeding Crop Years
Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors approved changes to the Camelina pilot crop insurance program on November 19, 2021.

The following changes are applicable for the 2022 and succeeding crop years:

  • Modify the weighted average contract price calculation to ensure the producer’s choice of coverage level does not impact their contract price;
  • Update the indemnity calculation and example to account for cases where a minimum stand payment is included in the contract; and
  • Make small clarifications and correct references to other sections throughout the policy.
Action

The Camelina Crop Provisions (22-0333) will be available by close of business today on the RMA website at www.rma.usda.gov. The Camelina Insurance Standards Handbook (FCIC-24410) will be available by November 30.

Approved insurance providers must notify policyholders of these changes at least 30 days prior to the cancellation date, as required by the policy.

Interested producers should contact a crop insurance agent for further information. A list of agents can be found on the RMA website at www.rma.usda.gov/Information-Tools/Agent-Locator-Page.
