Grass Seed Changes Effective for the 2026 and Succeeding Crop Years
BACKGROUND:
The Risk Management Agency (RMA) revised the Grass Seed Crop Provisions to make coverage more broadly available to producers. The following updates are intended to enable producers to better adapt crop insurance to their specific production and marketing practices:
- Allowing an extended insurance period for producers with earlier planting practices.
- Simplifying record reporting requirements by accepting records from producers who clean their own seed production.
- Insuring perennial rye grass producers during a stand’s year of establishment.
- Allowing production agreements for producers who have contracts lacking a pricing mechanism.
ACTION:
