Pistachio Crop Provisions Changes Effective for the 2026 and Succeeding Crop Years

BACKGROUND:

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) amended the Pistachio Crop Provisions for the 2026 and succeeding crop years, with the following changes:

  • Allow optional units by organic farming practice and consistency updates for optional unit division;
  • Clarification of the specific method and timing of actions that will be taken if any circumstances occur that may reduce yields from previous levels; and
  • General grammar and plain language clarifications throughout.

ACTION:

The Pistachio Crop Provisions (26-0470) will be available by close of business today on the Risk Management Agency (RMA) website at www.rma.usda.gov.

Approved insurance providers must notify policyholders of these changes at least 30 days prior to the cancellation date, as required by the policy.

Interested producers should contact a crop insurance agent for further information. A list of agents can be found on the RMA website at www.rma.usda.gov/tools-reports/agent-locator.
