Camelina Crop Provisions Changes Effective for the 2024 and Succeeding Crop Years

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) Board of Directors approved changes to the Camelina pilot crop insurance program on May 18, 2023. The USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) is expanding coverage by allowing written agreements in select counties in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. In addition, to assist expansion by written agreement into the Great Plains, the fall planted practice will be offered in Harper County, Kansas.

The following changes to the Camelina Crop Provisions are applicable for the 2024 and succeeding crop years:

  • Allow for both fall-planted and spring-planted types throughout the Crop Provisions.
  • Add a June 30 contract change date.
  • Add a September 30 cancellation and termination dates for counties with a fall-planted type.
  • Allow written agreements in all counties of Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, and Washington; and select counties of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The Camelina Crop Provisions (24-0333) will be available by close of business today on the RMA website at www.rma.usda.gov.

Approved insurance providers must notify policyholders of these changes at least 30 days prior to the cancellation date, as required by the policy.

Interested producers should contact a crop insurance agent for further information. A list of agents can be found on the RMA website at www.rma.usda.gov/Information-Tools/Agent-Locator. DISPOSAL DATE: December 31, 2024
