PM-24-049 Fire Insurance Protection - Smoke Index (FIP-SI) Endorsement Effective for the 2025 and Succeeding Crop Years

Background

On May 23, 2024, the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) Board of Directors approved the Fire Insurance Protection - Smoke Index (FIP-SI) Endorsement. It is available beginning with the 2025 crop year as additional coverage for the Common Crop Insurance Policy, Basic Provisions and the Actual Production History Grape Crop Provisions in counties located in California. The coverage provided by this Endorsement may be combined with the Supplemental Coverage Option (SCO) Endorsement or the Catastrophic Risk Protection Endorsement (CAT).

Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) has revised the Catastrophic Risk Protection Endorsement, the Area Risk Protection Insurance Regulations, and the Common Crop Insurance Regulations, Basic Provisions to incorporate changes made in the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (“2018 Farm Bill”). A Final Rule published in the Federal Register on June 28, 2019.

Background

The Risk Management Agency (RMA) has revised the Catastrophic Risk Protection Endorsement, the Area Risk Protection Insurance Regulations, and the Common Crop Insurance Regulations Basic Provisions to incorporate changes made in the 2014 Farm Bill Final Rule published in the Federal Register on June 30, 2016.

The Common Crop Insurance Policy Basic Provisions also includes changes that were made in the Double Cropping Final Rule with Request for Comments published in the Federal Register on June 22, 2016.
