Background

Hurricane Ian has caused catastrophic damage in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The Risk Management Agency (RMA), in conjunction with Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs), recognizes the need for authorizing emergency procedures to streamline determinations on specific crops and accelerate the adjustment of losses and issuance of indemnity payments to crop insurance policyholders in impacted areas.

Background

Many state and local governments have issued “stay at home” orders in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which may preclude agents from meeting with policyholders or potential policyholders to obtain signatures associated with various reporting requirements, written agreements, and the purchase of new coverage or adjustments to current policy elections.

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) revised the Florida Fruit Tree Crop Provisions and Insurance Standards Handbook for the 2021 and succeeding crop years. These materials were revised to clarify the optional unit structure provisions and procedure.

PM-19-007

The Risk Management Agency (RMA) has revised the Florida Fruit Tree Crop Provisions to clarify definitions and unit structures, adjust the period when insurance attaches, and remove restrictions on written agreements.” The Florida Fruit Tree Crop Provisions (2020-0014) are effective for the 2020 and succeeding crop years.

RMA will place, by close of business today, the Florida Fruit Tree Crop Provisions for the 2020 crop year on the RMA website at www.rma.usda.gov/.

Background

On September 22, 2017, the Risk Management Agency (RMA) issued MGR-17-014, Emergency Procedures for Crops Damaged by Hurricane Irma, authorizing emergency procedures for all counties in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

Since the issuance of MGR-17-014, RMA has received additional questions regarding the procedures related to Florida Citrus Fruit. This bulletin is to clarify emergency procedures related to Florida Citrus Fruit.

The Risk Management Agency (RMA), in conjunction with Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs), recognizes the need for authorizing emergency procedures that will streamline determinations on specific crops to accelerate the adjustment of losses and issuance of indemnity payments to crop insurance policyholders in impacted areas.

MGR-16-010

Background 

FCIC identifies pilot programs as those being tested to determine whether they are accepted by producers as effective and affordable risk management tools and to assure they are actuarially sound. Once testing is complete, the FCIC Board of Directors (Board) votes whether to make the program permanent in accordance with procedures found in the document titled Risk Management Agency Permanent and Pilot Designations at www.rma.usda.gov/policy-procedure/crop-policies.
