The Risk Management Agency (RMA) released provisions implementing contract-based features for the flue-cured tobacco program beginning with the 2021 crop year. Hurricane Ian has caused catastrophic damage in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The Risk Management Agency (RMA), in conjunction with Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs), recognizes the need for authorizing emergency procedures to streamline determinations on specific crops and accelerate the adjustment of losses and issuance of indemnity payments to crop insurance policyholders in impacted areas.

On November 30, 2020, RMA issued modifications to the flue cured tobacco crop insurance program for the 2021 and succeeding crop years. The changes include a two-tier price election and quality adjustment eligibility for tobacco grown under a production agreement.
