The Malting Barley Endorsement to the Small Grains Crop Provisions approved under section 508(h) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act was implemented beginning with the 2016 crop year. Revisions to the Malting Barley Endorsement have been made for the 2017 crop year as follows:
The Malting Barley Endorsement (MBE) is a private product approved under section 508(h) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act and was implemented beginning with the 2016 crop year. Section 8(c)(4) of the MBE specifies that all samples of farm-stored production used to determine eligibility for quality adjustment must be obtained no later than 30 days after the end of the insurance period.
The 2016 CY projected prices shown below are approved for the following plans of insurance: Yield Protection, Area Yield Protection, Revenue Protection, Area Revenue Protection, Revenue Protection with Harvest Price Exclusion and Area Revenue Protection - Harvest Price Exclusion.
The 2015 CY harvest prices shown below are approved for the following plans of insurance: Revenue Protection, Area Revenue Protection, Revenue Protection with Harvest Price Exclusion, and Area Revenue Protection - Harvest Price Exclusion. The harvest prices are applicable for the crop, sales closing date, states, and practices indicated in the following table.

A private product submitted under section 508(h) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act providing revenue coverage for malting barley was approved by the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors on February 5, 2014. The new Malting Barley Endorsement to the Small Grains Crop Provisions will be available to malting barley producers for the 2016 crop year in all counties where the current Malting Barley Price and Quality Endorsement is available.
