Background

On May 21, 2020, The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors approved the Production and Revenue History (PRH) plan of insurance for strawberries for the 2021 crop year. The sales closing date (SCD) for Florida policies was first set as August 31, 2020. However, due to complications during implementation, the initial year of offering will be for a later SCD.

Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation has expanded the number of counties where certain crops are insurable for the 2021 crop year having an August 31 contract change date. The following attachment, 2021 Expansion of Existing Perennial Crop Programs, lists the expansion by crop, state, and county for this permanent (non-pilot) program.

Action

Approved Insurance Providers should advise producers of the expanded county crop program for the 2021 crop year.

Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors approved the HIP-WI Endorsement, on November 15, 2019, and approved the End of Insurance Extension Option on June 23, 2020. The option is available for the 2020 crop year for apples, blueberries, grapes, and peaches.

In accordance with Section 15 of the ARPI Crop Provisions and Section 10 of the SCO Endorsement, approved final county yields for the 2019 crop year will be available by close of business today in the following formats:

Background 

Severe freeze events in the Southeastern United States on March 15-16, 2017, have resulted in significant and varying crop damage, particularly for blueberry and peach growers in Georgia and South Carolina. Some reports indicate the freeze event may have damaged 80 percent of the blueberry crop in Southern Georgia and 85 to 90 percent of early and midseason peach varieties in both states. Crops that advanced early, due to an unusually warm January and February, were damaged by the March freeze.
