The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) amended the Forage Seeding Crop Provisions for the 2022 and succeeding crop years in response to comments received on the Final Rule published in the Federal Register on April 30, 2020, to clarify the later spring sales closing date applies in counties with both fall and spring-planted practices if a producer does not plant any “insurable” fall planted acreage. This change provides producers who plant an uninsurable forage crop in the fall an opportunity to purchase a policy for an insurable and timely planted forage crop in the spring.

Background 

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) has expanded the number of counties where certain crops are insurable for the 2017 crop year. The following attachment, 2017 Expansion of Existing Fall Crops Programs, lists the expansion by crop, state, and county for permanently-established (non-pilot) programs.

• 2021 Special Provisions for the 4/30, 8/31, 9/30 Filing Date.

Additional notes and details regarding this data release:

The 2021 Appendix III to the Standard Reinsurance Agreement and the Livestock Price Reinsurance Agreement (Appendix III) has been updated with approved modifications. Appendix III is available electronically via the Risk Management Agency (RMA) website at www.rma.usda.gov/Policy-and-Procedure under the Appendix III/M-13 directory.
