The ARH Sweet Cherry and Tart Cherry for Processing Pilot Crop Provisions establish an Annual Price to determine revenue to count for certain appraised or unsold marketable production.

In accordance with the definition of Annual Price in Section 2 of the crop provisions, the Risk Management Agency (RMA) is issuing the following Annual Prices for crop year 2021:

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation’s (FCIC) Board of Directors approved changes to the ARH Sweet and Tart Cherry Pilot Programs on May 21, 2021.

The following changes are applicable for the 2022 and succeeding crop years:

PM-21-016-1

The ARH Sweet Cherry and Tart Cherry for Processing Pilot Crop Provisions establish an Annual Price to determine revenue to count for certain appraised or unsold marketable production. RMA released prices on March 11, 2021, but prices for Michigan were incorrect. This memorandum corrects prices for Michigan sweet cherries.

Risk Management Agency (RMA) is issuing revisions to Michigan sweet cherry Annual Prices for crop year 2020, which were initially published on March 11, 2021. Other prices are repeated for reference.

The ARH Sweet Cherry and Tart Cherry for Processing Pilot Crop Provisions establish an Annual Price to determine revenue to count for certain appraised or unsold marketable production.

In accordance with the definition of Annual Price in Section 2 of the crop provisions, the Risk Management Agency (RMA) is issuing the following Annual Prices for crop year 2020:

The ARH Sweet Cherry and Tart Cherry for Processing Pilot Crop Provisions establish an Annual Price to determine revenue to count for certain appraised or unsold marketable production. In accordance with the definition of Annual Price in Section 2. Definitions of the ARH Sweet Cherry and Tart Cherry for Processing Pilot Crop Provisions, (d), Annual Price is to be calculated from data reported for the crop year by the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in their publication Noncitrus Fruits and Nuts Preliminary Summary, or by RMA if the publication is not available.

PM-19-047

The Risk Management Agency (RMA) has revised the ARH Sweet Cherry Crop Provisions and ARH Tart Cherry Crop Provisions to incorporate changes in response to industry input and feedback from stakeholders. The ARH Sweet Cherry Crop Provisions (20-0057-Sweet) and ARH Tart Cherry Crop Provisions (20-0057-Tart) are effective for the 2020 and succeeding crop years.

ARH Sweet Cherry Crop Provisions

IS-16-002

In June, the Cherry Industry Administrative Board (CIAB) that administers the Federal Tart Cherry Marketing Order estimated a large 2016 tart cherry crop and announced diversion provisions on the crop for supply control. On July 8, 2016 fruit crops in northern Michigan were impacted by a significant hail storm. Reports indicate varying degrees of damage has occurred to the tart cherry crop and has resulted in questions regarding how production on diverted acreage of tart cherries is valued.

Background 

Section 11(e) of the Actual Revenue History (ARH) Sweet Cherry Pilot Crop Provisions and section 11(c) of the ARH Tart Cherry for Processing Pilot Crop Provisions, states, “if there is no damage or loss of production but you anticipate a revenue loss, you must give us notice not later than March 1 of the year following harvest.” The Risk Management Agency issued Informational Memorandum PM-17-015: 2016 Crop Year ARH Sweet Cherry and Tart Cherry for Processing Annual Price on March 8th, 2017; therefore, creating the inability for insured producers anticipating a reve
