Crop Insurance Deadline Nears in Alabama and Florida for Controlled Environment Program

VALDOSTA, Ga., April 3, 2024 — USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) reminds Alabama and Florida growers that the final date to apply for or make changes to their Controlled Environment policy for the 2025 crop year is May 1.

Federal crop insurance is critical to the farm safety net. It helps producers and owners manage revenue risks and strengthens the rural economy. Additional information can be found on the Actuarial Information Browser page on the RMA website. Coverage is available for Controlled Environment in select Alabama and Florida counties.

Growers are encouraged to visit their crop insurance agent soon see if their county is covered and to learn specific details for the 2025 crop year.
